Paedophile MP hunted children for years and then hid in Kyiv

Volodymyr Zhyvaha, a former deputy of the Seredonetsk City Council (VI convocation), was sentenced to 15 years in prison for rape and child molestation in Luhansk Oblast. Back in 2012, he was put on the wanted list, but the offender was detained 5 years later in Kyiv - he was working under the documents of his brother, who died in the Russian Federation. During the trial, it became known that the paedophile could have been stopped much earlier.

He hid from police for five years

The deputy was first detained in 2012 – law enforcement officers caught him at home with a little girl, and a large archive of photos and videos of children was found on Zhyvaha’s computer.

However, the criminal was released on bail, which he took advantage of by immediately leaving for Kyiv. He lived and worked there peacefully until 2017, despite being wanted, including internationally. It turned out that Zhyvaha was posing as his younger brother, who had died in Russia.

But the pedophile did not go unpunished only because in 2017 he came to the attention of the employees of the Department of Economic Protection of the National Police in another case.

The first was the niece

The case materials include six victimized girls aged 6 to 14. The youngest was Volodymyr’s wife’s niece.

The first proven "episode" occurred in 2006, when the child and her mother came to visit the country house where her aunt and her husband lived. Zhyvaha could not resist, under the pretext of cleaning the bathhouse, he called the little girl, persuaded her to undress, touch herself and his genitals, and photographed the entire process.

He also convinced me not to tell my parents anything, saying, “let it remain our secret.”

Apparently, there was a break in "communication" with the child - the case materials further talk about events that took place in 2010. One spring, Zhyvaha came to the Severodonetsk school where the girl studied and persuaded her to go to his house to watch cartoons, movies, play entertaining computer games, etc. But at home, Zhyvaha turned on porn films for his 10-year-old niece. Then he photographed her naked and forced her to touch him.

But this was not enough for the pedophile, in the same year he decided that it was time to "do it the adult way" and raped the child in an unnatural way. After that there were several more "meetings" when the uncle-deputy forced her to "make love". In fact, he raped her again.

At the end of 2010 or beginning of 2011, the girl told her mother everything. The woman went to the police, psychologists came, talked, asked about what was happening. However, it did not end in anything.

Let us recall that at that time Zhyvaha was an active deputy and continued to corrupt and rape children.

The carrot and stick method

Most pedophiles are excellent psychologists. They know how to approach children, sympathize at the right moment and thus gain their trust. The criminal acted in the same way.

Plus, he gave them money and got the girls used to alcohol (the children drank cognac and beer), and then raped them. He told some of them about the "horrors of first sex" and convinced them that he would do everything painlessly. He persuaded them to bring a friend, threatened to meet with their sister, skillfully and cynically broke their psyche.

The victims testified that they could not leave his country house on their own because of the remoteness of the area and the presence of a dog on the premises. If Zhyvaha was absent, he always let his Caucasian shepherd off the leash.

Also, the victims did not tell their parents anything, so as not to ruin the relationship and not be punished.

Married to a pedophile

At the court hearing, the wife said that she met her future husband at the age of 15; he was 26. They met in a café at a disco where Zhyvaha came every evening.

She became pregnant, but the man did not want children. Over time, the deputy bought a house in the urban-type settlement of Metelkino, where they began to live together, but did not officially register the marriage.

The woman believed that Volodymyr was thus worried about his property, but she nevertheless became pregnant and gave birth to a son. At that time, there were already difficulties between them, sexual relations completely ceased after the birth. Zhyvaha said that he had some "problems of an intimate nature."

When they lived in Metelkino, a girl came to them, he kept saying how pretty and white she was. Over time, the woman began to find photos of young children in the forest next to the cars he often changed on the home computer.

After the first incident with her niece, the wife did not believe that her husband could corrupt the child. Then she found his correspondence on the social network "Vkontakte" and new photos, but he got out of it. He said that the girls write and get acquainted themselves, and he "guides them on the path of life."

Then there were more facts, and one day his wife caught him kissing a young waitress in a local cafe and filed for divorce. However, there is no information that she contacted the police.
