Former head of Kirovohrad’s traffic police Oleksiy Bereznevych took a "prime position" in the Odesa police
The scandalous former head of the Kirovohrad traffic police, Colonel Oleksiy Bereznevych, who was accused of persecuting Euromaidan activists and corruption, and who is subject to lustration, has secured a lucrative position in Odesa.
Currently, Bereznevych is listed as the head of the State Security Service in the Odesa region.
It should be noted that Bereznevych was dismissed from the position of head of the Kirovohrad region’s traffic police in the spring of 2014, immediately after the Revolution of Dignity, at the request of the local community, because people were convinced that it was on Bereznevych’s orders that ordinary traffic police officers detained Automaidan activists under false accusations.
However, in May 2014, Bereznevych was appointed as the deputy head of the Department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Donetsk region.
After yet another media scandal in December 2014, he was removed from his position, and an internal investigation was launched.
The outcome of that investigation is still unknown, but today Bereznevych is already listed as the head of the State Security Service in the Odesa region, which is responsible for guarding large state facilities, such as ports.
