Attack on oil depot in Kharkiv led to large-scale land and water pollution
The attack on the oil depot in Kharkiv on February 9 led to large-scale contamination of land and water. Almost 4,000 tons of fuel were stored there.
This was stated by Serhiy Bolvinov, Head of the Investigation Department of the National Police in Kharkiv Region.
"Since the oil depot was attacked and a fuel leak occurred, a large area was contaminated. According to preliminary data, more than 10 thousand square meters of territory were contaminated due to fuel leakage. This includes both diesel and gasoline. According to available information, more than 3,800 tons of fuel were stored at this oil depot,” Bolvinov said.
He added that oil products also got into the Nemyshlya River.
Bolvinov noted that the police contacted the State Environmental Inspectorate in Kharkiv region, which took soil and water samples from the pollution sites.
