Head of district military commissariat detained for corruption in Poltava region

The head of one of the district military commissariats in Poltava region was served with a notice of suspicion of receiving an undue benefit for committing illegal acts with the use of his authority and official position. According to the SSU, the official demanded bribes from local business representatives for a delay in mobilisation - in the form of money or fuel.

The attacker began illegal activities almost immediately after his appointment to the post in September last year. He sent an order to the heads of enterprises to summon their employees to the military registration and enlistment office. Subsequently, he proposed to “resolve the issue” of postponing the mobilization of those liable for military service for a monetary reward.

Law enforcement officers established the fact of illegal execution of documents giving the right to a deferment from mobilization for 15 persons liable for military service and documented the extortion of fuel, the equivalent of almost 4 thousand dollars. During a search at the defendant’s place of work, investigators seized documentary evidence of his illegal “manipulations.” An official of the military registration and enlistment office was informed of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 368 CC.
