SBI reports on progress of investigation into death of Zaluzhnyi’s aide

As part of the investigation into the death of Hennadiy Chastyakov, an aide to former AFU Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, about twenty witnesses were interviewed and three investigative experiments were conducted. A number of examinations are still ongoing.

This is stated in the response of the SBI at the request of the Ukrainian media. In particular, Bureau investigators are checking several versions of the tragedy that occurred in November 2023.

For this purpose, the investigation interrogated about two dozen witnesses. Three investigative experiments were carried out, a large number of documents were studied, including those containing state secrets.

Investigators also received materials from an official investigation into this fact conducted by the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In addition, examinations of explosive devices and explosion products, forensic, fingerprinting, molecular genetic, as well as psychological examinations using a polygraph were ordered. Some of them are ongoing, SBI investigators report.

Currently, in particular, the version of the accident as a result of careless handling of an explosive device is being verified.
