Dnipro HPS will take years to restore, - Ihor Syrota
After Russia attacked Dnipro HPS on 22 March, the plant never resumed operations. It will take years to fully restore it.
This was announced by the General Director of Ukrhydroenergo Ihor Syrota .
He noted: however, the situation at the Dnipro hydroelectric dam itself is under control. But there is no threat of a breakthrough.
“For now, the Dnipro hydroelectric station is not operating. Today we cannot clear all the rubble, since both the ceilings and the walls with crane beams have leaned onto the turbine hall. It is necessary to dismantle the upper part of the turbine hall so that we can get to the lower part,” the message says.
It is noted that the final extent of damage caused to the station is not yet clear. A thorough examination will be carried out to install them.
The largest Russian attack on Ukraine’s energy sector
In general, the Russian attack on energy infrastructure facilities on March 22 was the largest in the entire period of a full-scale war. The blows were made on:
- about 20 substations;
 - power plants;
 - Dnipro HPS.

However, on the whole, Ukraine withstood the blow. As Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said, thanks to the additional protection of energy facilities, the energy system remained intact.
