This was confirmed by the General Staff at yesterday’s meeting of the Rada Committee on National Security.

The question of removing this provision was put to a vote, but there were not enough votes.

“If a child turns 18, if he has completed basic military training or basic military service, he is included in the register of those liable for military service and can automatically be sent to the front. The President, the Cabinet of Ministers, the single-majority, the relevant committee and the General Staff know about this, which he admitted today at a meeting of the Committee. And when we made an amendment to remove this shameful, absolutely illogical and incorrect thing, the committee did not vote for it, without giving the appropriate number of votes,” Razumkov said.

During the committee meeting, Razumkov wondered whether it could be that a person who completed basic military training at 18 and does not continue his studies would be mobilized at 19 if this bill is voted on. Please note that at the moment, studying at universities gives grounds for deferment.

A representative of the General Staff responded that “a citizen becomes liable for military service and can be mobilized.”
