The Ministry of Defence denied that under the new bill they will be able to mobilize from the age of 18
Citizens over 18 years of age, regardless of having completed basic military training or service, will receive a deferment until they reach mobilization age, the department said, adding that they plan to lower this age to 25 years.
They also say that “citizens over the age of 18 can choose the time to complete basic military service,” which will replace urgent military service (i.e., it does not necessarily begin at the age of 18).
Earlier, People’s Deputy Dmytro Razumkov stated that after the basic preparation of the new bill, it will be possible to mobilize a person from the age of 18.
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, also opposed this norm.
