NATO commented on possible resumption of military training in Ukraine
The issue of the possible resumption of Ukrainian military exercises on Ukrainian territory is not yet on the agenda at NATO.
A NATO official told reporters about this on condition of anonymity.
Commenting on discussions about the resumption of military exercises within Ukraine, an interlocutor from the Alliance noted: “This is not on the agenda yet.”
He refused to comment on individual statements by the leaders of NATO member states, but emphasized that there are other areas of cooperation - both military and political - in which Kyiv is engaged in dialogue with the Alliance and receives assistance.
“And let me add that there are currently no plans to send troops to Ukraine in any shape or form,” the official added.
Last month, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said training missions for Ukrainian military personnel should take place in Ukraine as it would buy Kyiv time and simplify logistics.
This statement came against the backdrop of the position of French President Emmanuel Macron that the possible dispatch of Western troops to Ukraine “cannot be ruled out.” He then added that his resonant words were carefully thought out.
