Israeli military base withstood Iran’s attack: it continues to function

On the night of April 14, Iran attacked Israel, launching about 300 different weapons. 99% of them were intercepted by air defense systems, but several Iranian ballistic missiles reached the Israeli Nevatim airbase in the south of the country.

The damage caused by Iran to the infrastructure of the facility was called “minor” by the Israel Defence Forces, and was confirmed by showing a video of the fifth-generation F-35 fighter landing on the undamaged runway of the Nevatim airbase. This was reported by The Times of Israel, citing IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari.

After Iran’s overnight attack on Israel, during which several Iranian missiles penetrated the Nevatim airbase, the IDF said there was "minor damage" to the facility’s infrastructure. On the morning of April 14, Hagari assured, the airbase was operating as usual. He also showed live footage from Nevatim, which showed an F-35 fighter landing on the airbase’s undamaged runway.

“As you can see, the base is functioning and continues to fulfill its tasks. The video shows the runway at Nevatim,” Khagari commented on the video.

According to the IDF spokesman, by attacking the air base, Iran sought to weaken Israel’s capabilities in the air, but Tehran failed to achieve this.

“Iran thought it could paralyze the base and thus cripple our air capabilities, but it failed. Air Force aircraft continue to take off and land from the base, as well as depart for offensive and defensive missions, including the Adir (F-35) aircraft that are now returning from the base defense mission, and you will see them landing soon,” Hagari stressed.

In total, he said, Iran used about 300 airborne weapons against Israel at night. 99% of them were intercepted by Israeli air defense systems and several of its allies.

So, during the attack, Iran launched 170 kamikaze drones, none of which reached Israeli territory, since they were all destroyed outside the country by both Israeli air defense and allied forces.

Not one of the 30 Iranian cruise missiles reached Israel: 25 of them were destroyed by Israeli air defense.

Iran used 120 ballistic missiles in the attack. The vast majority were destroyed by the Arrow long-range air defense system, but several missiles were able to bypass the defenses and reached the Nevatim airbase.
