The Netherlands will send three more F-16 aircraft to Romania to train Ukrainian pilots
The Royal Netherlands Air Force will provide Fighting Falcon fighters as “simulators” for training pilots from Ukraine.
On Wednesday, April 17, at the 86th Air Base "Lieutenant Aviator Gheorghe Mociornice" in Romania, Minister of National Defence Angel Tilvar will meet with his counterpart from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Kaisa Ollongren, who will bring three F-16 aircraft of the Royal Air Force. This was reported by the press service of the Romanian Ministry of Defence.
The fighters will be provided to the European Training Center as part of pilot training programs to operate this type of fighter.
As noted in the report, the European F-16 Training Center is an international pilot training center that helps improve interoperability among allies, create common operational standards and strengthen the Alliance’s ability to meet complex challenges in the Black Sea region and Eastern Europe.
Under the cooperation agreement, the Romanian Ministry of Defense provides the 86th Air Base, training facilities and host nation support, the Royal Netherlands Air Force provides F-16 aircraft, and Lockheed Martin provides trainers and maintenance.
