The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, said that Ukraine is capable of ending the war by restoring its territorial integrity and returning to the 1991 borders. At the same time, he noted that a tense situation may remain on the border, even after the end of the war.

According to Budanov, the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine will constantly appear. He spoke about this in an interview with the BBC.

The head of the DIU noted that the Russian-Ukrainian war will end with reaching the state borders of 1991. At the same time, he added that even after the war there will be a certain period of time when the situation on the borders will remain tense. However, despite this, the war will practically end.

Budanov also said that the war will end even with the current military-political leadership of Russia. The head of the DIU does not rule out that the Kremlin will make further attempts at aggression against Ukraine.

“The fact that there will be attempts to do something again, yes, there will be. This is normal. This is absolutely normal. Russia wants to destroy us, we don’t want to be destroyed. We don’t have the same whims, as they say, you understand? That’s why this conflict will constantly appear, subside, reappear, and so on. Look at our history. We with the Russian Federation, the Russian Empire, the Moscow Kingdom and the like have been either making peace or fighting all our lives. We will not be able to change the course of history in the future,” - said Budanov.
