Ukrainians kneel only in prayer, and never before invaders, - Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy addressed the Ukrainians from the St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, where an exhibition of Ukrainian artists is taking place.

"These are icons on ammunition boxes. Imbued with the smoke of our land and the spirit of our people. Symbols of great trials and great strength that helps us overcome them. Each of these icons is like a divine manifestation. Proof that heaven is with us. Answer to the question “why the Ukrainians survived,” the president noted.

As the head of state explained, the icons contain the names of heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine and showed that “Ukrainians kneel only in prayer, and never before invaders and occupiers.”

"We pray for each other. When we all became closer to each other, to each other’s neighbors. And the former neighbor, who constantly became our brothers, is forever distant to us. He violated all the commandments, wanted our house, came to kill us. The world sees this “God knows this. And we believe: God has a chevron with the Ukrainian flag on his shoulder. So with such an ally, life will definitely conquer death,” Zelenskyy added.

The President noted that today Ukrainians unite in joint prayer for the soldiers celebrating Easter in the trenches and in positions.

“Today our prayer is for all Ukrainians who are waiting for this dawn and will certainly see it. They will wait for peace, truth and God, who will return to the scorched earth. Dotted with scars in the form of craters and trenches. He will return with silence, tranquility, flowers instead of mines in the fields. It will return with children’s laughter instead of the roar of an air raid. The light that will return to all our land given by the Lord, to all the territories temporarily occupied by the devils, will return to the waste heaps and to the coast of the seas,” he said.
