To obtain Czech citizenship, a good knowledge of the Czech language is required.

Every year about 5,000 foreigners obtain Czech citizenship. Most of them are Ukrainians (about 50%) and Slovaks.

The publication mukachevo.net writes about this.

As the publication writes, Russians are also actively changing their passports, whose interest in Czech documents has doubled since the start of a full-scale war against Ukraine. Last year, for example, more than 1,100 Russians received Czech passports, which is almost twice as many as the year before. Magda Faltova, director of the Association for Integration and Migration, says of applications for Czech passports that “in relation to non-democratic countries this is often a protection against persecution, as well as protection against, for example, forced mobilization.”

Foreigners have the right to citizenship after ten years of residence in the Czech Republic. However, first they must pass exams in the Czech language, as well as an exam on questions about the history and culture of the Czech Republic.

To obtain Czech citizenship, a good knowledge of the Czech language is required. Language skills are paid attention to, as are having a regular income and having no criminal record. The future citizen must pass a language exam that assesses the level of proficiency in the Czech language: both oral and written.

Four out of five candidates pass the exams, but they must prove their economic independence to the authorities. “Before applying for citizenship, a person must prove that they have earned income, paid taxes, and have not used Social Security in the last three years. At this stage, everything usually ends,” said Ondrej Kratoshko, press secretary of the Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The process of obtaining Czech citizenship begins with the submission of relevant documents. To do this, you need to fill out a form, submit documents confirming your identity, residence in the country, knowledge of the Czech language and successful integration into society. Documents are usually submitted to the Czech Ministry of the Interior or the local authority responsible for citizenship.
