German Development Minister Svenja Schulze arrived on a visit to Kyiv
Federal Minister of Development and Economic Cooperation of Germany Svenja Schulze arrived in Kyiv on the morning of May 9. A representative of the Social Democratic Party of Germany arrived in the Ukrainian capital by train UZ.
The press service of the German Ministry of Development informed about the previously unannounced visit on Twitter ( X ). Tagesschau reports that among the topics of Schulze’s Kyiv talks will be, among other things, the expansion of the Ukrainian energy system with the help of Germany and the training of qualified specialists.
The minister visited Ukraine “to assure the country, which has suffered greatly from Russia’s war of aggression, of further support in reconstruction,” the journalists noted.
As part of the trip, the politician will take part in the International Summit of Cities and Regions (it takes place in Kyiv on May 8-9).
The visit also serves as preparation for an extensive reconstruction conference in Berlin on June 11 and 12. It is expected that there will be about 1,500 participants, including heads of state and government.
"The people here are rebuilding their country every day, they are not giving up. It is very important that there is not only support for weapons, but also support for civilian development... Doctors and electricians are as important as tanks," Schulze said.
