Fierce fighting continues in the Kharkiv region now, - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the information that the Russian occupiers have launched a new wave of offensive in the Kharkiv region. While heavy fighting continues there.

The head of state said this during a joint briefing in Kyiv with the leader of Slovakia Zuzana Caputova on Friday, May 10.

“Russia launched a wave of counter-offensive actions in this direction. Ukraine met them with our troops, brigades and artillery,” Zelenskyy said, confirming the start of the offensive in the Kharkiv region.

He added that the invaders’ attempt to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian defenders took place in the morning. But the soldiers repelled the attack with artillery fire.

According to the head of state, the Russians can attract even more troops and other resources to this direction. However, he emphasized that the military command knew about the hostile plans and was ready to give a worthy rebuff.
