All security forces must register with the military

From May 18, every citizen must constantly carry a military registration document and, if requested by an authorized person, must present this document.

According to the new law on mobilization, a wider range of categories of citizens are registered for military service. In particular, within two months, employees of the National Police, State Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies must become registered.

Roman Gorbach, head of the main personnel department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced this at a briefing.

“Previously, employees of the National Police, the State Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies were not registered with the military. Now, according to this law, within two months all these categories will be registered with the military,” Gorbach said.

He clarified that this law also places more responsibilities on the citizens themselves. “Since May 18, every citizen is obliged to constantly be with a military registration document, and in the event of an authorized person’s request, the citizen is obliged to present this document. Such actions must be recorded by means of video recording, and in the event of a violation either by citizens or authorized persons of the law, also persons bear responsibility," Gorbach said. He recalled that from now on, prisoners dismissed under the Criminal Code can be hired under the contract, changes have been made to the categories of citizens entitled to a deferment, and the responsibilities of local governments in fulfilling mobilization duties have been improved and clarified.
