A third of Ukrainians support the new norms of mobilization, half do not, - KIIS
Among Ukrainians there is no clear attitude towards the law on improving mobilization, while at the same time among those surveyed by sociologists there are more of those who do not support it.
This became known from the results of a KIIS survey within the framework of the “Mobilise” project, conducted May 26-June 1
Sociologists note that among Ukrainians there is no clear attitude towards the mobilization law (which is obviously a consequence of the understanding that the country needs to improve recruitment procedures, their own fears and concerns, and the fact that the law itself covers different areas).
Thus, respondents were asked to express agreement or disagreement with the statement “I support the new law on mobilization.” 34% of respondents agreed (somewhat or completely) with this statement.
At the same time, 20% somewhat disagreed, and 32% disagreed at all (and another 14% did not answer the question).
“It should be emphasized that disagreement with a statement is not identical to the fact that people are opposed (and even more so is not evidence of an attitude towards the need for mobilization itself or the need to repel the enemy). Of course, some of those who disagree are precisely opponents. In At the same time, some may disagree only with individual components of the law or have a restrained, neutral attitude.”
The Mobilise Project aims to understand the determinants of “mobilization” (in the broader sense of political mobilization of society/citizens, not just military conscription) at home and abroad through a multi-wave, nationally representative panel study.
The survey collects data on citizens’ attitudes towards protests, migration, political participation and socio-political factors. This project covers four countries: Ukraine, Poland, Argentina and Morocco. This series of surveys also provides insight into changes in attitudes over time, especially in the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The current survey was conducted between May 26 and June 1. Using telephone interviews, sociologists interviewed 2,011 adult residents of territories controlled by the Ukrainian government.
