Attempt on the life of Kazakh oppositionist Sadykov: suspicion announced to two foreigners
Two citizens of Kazakhstan were declared suspicious in the case of an attack on Kazakh opposition leader Aidos Sadykov in Kyiv.
As noted, Ukrainian law enforcement officers identified the attackers. They turned out to be two citizens of Kazakhstan - Altai Zhakanbayev (born in 1988) and Meiram Karatayev (born in 1991).
They were accused of deliberately unlawfully causing the death of another person, committed by order and by prior conspiracy by a group of people. They face imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years or life imprisonment.
According to the investigation, Karatayev and Zhakanbayev received orders to kill journalist Aidos Sadykov. The customer, whose identity was not established, provided the performers with information about the oppositionist.
The attackers arrived in Kyiv in order to find out more information about the journalist, in particular, his place of residence, daily routine and travel routes. The attackers planned to kill the journalist using a pistol with a silencer.
On the day of the attack, June 18, one of the attackers ran up to the car and shot Sadikov in the head, causing an open penetrating gunshot wound to the brain. After this, the attackers tried to escape by throwing away the pistol.
