The former head of the Kalanchak District Court of Kherson Region, Olena Zhyvtsova, finally lost her appeal against her sentence. The servant of Themis has been seeking recognition of her innocence for six years in the case of a bribe of 5 thousand hryvnia, which she received in the Code of Administrative Offences.
As reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, on July 4, the Criminal Court of Cassation of the Supreme Court upheld the verdict of the previous instance and upheld the sentence for Zhyvtsova of 5.5 years in prison. The decision is final and not subject to appeal.
The case of Kalanchak judge Olena Zhyvtsova
Considering the administrative case of bringing Anatoliy Lozinskyi to justice for transporting passengers without obtaining a license in 2018, the head of the Kalanchak district court of the Kherson region, Olena Zyivtsova, offered him to close the case in exchange for 5,000 UAH. In case of disagreement, the judge threatened to make a decision on administrative liability and impose a fine of 17,000 UAH.
Lozinsky reported this to NABU, where they gave him marked 5,000 UAH and tracked how he gave them on April 4, the day of the hearing. It is noteworthy that the defendant invested the money between the pages of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which Zhyvtsova handed to him. After this, she adopted a resolution to close the proceedings.
