The fate of four cities is being decided in Chasiv Yar - Dykyi
According to Dykyi, the enemy’s advance in the Toretsk direction by 2 km per day indicates an error in planning military operations.
The situation in the Toretsk sector is very threatening, primarily for Toretsk and Chasiv Yar. This was stated by military expert and former company commander of the Aidar battalion Yevhen Dykyi on Radio NV.
According to him, the frontline continues to slowly sag across the Donetsk region. The Russians are trying to push the battlefield with a large number of fighters and the enemy is taking advantage of their manpower advantage.
"Both with CABs and FABs. They have two advantages, this possibility of bombing with planning bombs and the advantage in the number of soldiers. And they are slowly pushing through the frontline in Donetsk region, paying a really terrible price for this, which no other army in the world would consider adequate or acceptable at all," said Yevhen Dykyi.
He noted that the enemy’s advance in the Toretsk sector by 2 km per day is an unusual situation.
"Usually, orcs advance tens of metres per day. It’s clear that there was some kind of a puncture on our part," said Dykyi.
At the same time, he does not rule out the possibility of a mistake during the rotation of the two brigades.
Dykyi notes that the biggest threat is now in the Toretsk sector, primarily for Toretsk and Chasiv Yar, which has been held for months and plays a key role in the defence of Donbas.
"In fact, the fate of the entire large agglomeration of four major cities - Kostyantynivka, Druzhkivka, Slovyansk and Kramatorsk - will be decided in Chasiv Yar. If we are forced to withdraw from Chasik, these four towns will be shelled from the heights around it, and at the very least we will have to evacuate several tens of thousands of civilians. And at the most, we may lose these cities altogether in some time. It is clear that they will not "fall" in one day - each of these cities is suitable for long-term defence," he stressed.
At the same time, Dykyi said that the war will still take place in these four cities, which are still frontline, but they will become frontline if Chasiv Yar falls.
He said that the breakthrough near Toretsk poses a threat that Chasiv Yar will have to be defended not from one side, as it is now, but from two or three, and in the worst case, it will be a threat of encirclement and, accordingly, the need to redeploy, i.e. withdraw, which is highly undesirable.
The veteran stressed that today the Toretsk sector is being "fire-fighting", with the Ukrainian command sending in available reserves.
"There is hope that we will be able to stop this advance in the Toretsk sector," Dykyi added.
