Ukraine cannot wait another 75 years to join NATO, – Kuleba

In an interview with CNN, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba welcomed the decision of the NATO summit in Washington to support Ukraine, but stressed that Kyiv’s accession should take place in the foreseeable future.

Kuleba stated this in an interview with CNN .

“We will be completely happy when Ukraine becomes a member of NATO. And the promise of this will be realized. We have seen very encouraging signals at all levels over the past two days that the path to membership is irreversible, that Ukraine will be in NATO.

But we cannot wait another 75 years to celebrate Ukraine’s accession. This should happen sooner, not later. Because this is the only way to ensure strategic security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic region."

Kuleba noted that at the Alliance summit, Ukraine heard promises of additional military assistance, including on the issue of air defense systems, as well as a decision on Kyiv’s “irreversible path” to NATO.

According to the minister, it is important for Ukraine to provide the military with enough weapons so that they can hold their positions.
