TRC answered whether men from 18 to 25 years old can be mobilized

“Indeed, men aged 18 to 25 years are classified as conscripts. However, there are cases when such persons can be mobilized,” the TRC says.

Cases when men aged 18 to 25 years can be mobilized

• If a man completed military service in peacetime;
• If a person graduated from a higher military educational institution or a military department and received a certain military specialty;
• Recognized by a military medical commission as unfit for military service in peacetime and fit in wartime.

Cancellation of the “restricted fit” status in Ukraine

In early April, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law that abolished the “limitedly eligible” status in Ukraine. People who have it remain liable for military service even if they are under 25 years old.

That is, such people can actually have their military registration documents checked and, if they don’t have current ones, they can be sent for a second examination by a military medical commission. According to the new legislation, after it a man can receive the following statuses:

• Fit for service;
• Suitable for service in military support units, TRC and SS, military educational institutions, training centers, institutions, medical units, logistics, communications, operational support, security units;
• Unfit for military service with exclusion from military registration;
• Temporarily unfit - requires treatment, leave, release from official duties;
• Unfit for military service with review after 6-12 months.
