Poland will strengthen air defence on the border with Belarus and Russia from August 1
On August 1, the Polish Ministry of Defence launches Operation WSCHODNIA ZORZA, aimed at strengthening the air defence system on the eastern borders of the country, including the borders with Belarus and Russia.
The main goal of the operation is to protect Polish airspace from illegal penetration of objects. Particular attention will be paid to low altitudes, which is especially important in the case of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles. The operation covers the eastern and northeastern borders, where the risk of disruption is highest.
The Operational Command of the Armed Forces will take over the coordination of the operation. Missions will be carried out by subordinate units, including the Air Operations Center - Air Component Command, using all allocated resources. This will ensure effective management and rapid response to threats.
The main activities of the operation include:
- Continuous control of airspace.
- Response to identified violations and their neutralization.
- Cooperation with allies and neighboring countries to exchange information and coordinate defensive actions.
- Regular training and exercises to maintain high operational readiness.
The Ministry of Defence emphasizes that strengthening the air defense system is not only a response to current challenges, but also a long-term investment in the country’s security, and the effective protection of airspace is of key importance for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Poland.
