Zelenskyy awarded new title to Syrskyi
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi a new military rank. He has become a general.
The corresponding decree No. 580 was signed by the President on August 23, 2024. Previously, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine held the rank of Colonel General.
Zelenskyy also awarded new military ranks to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoliy Barhilevych has been awarded the rank of lieutenant general. Previously, he was a major general.
The commander of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov was awarded the rank of major general. Before that, he held the rank of brigadier general.
