Ukrainian MP Nestor Shufrych and his former assistant will be tried

Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office have sent to court an indictment against a People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the IX convocation from the banned political party OPFL and his former assistant.

They are charged with financing actions committed with the purpose of violently changing and overthrowing the constitutional order, seizing state power, changing the borders of the territory and state border of Ukraine (Part 3 of Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In addition, the people’s representative is also charged with high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that the accused, together with other persons trusted by the people’s deputy, after the occupation of the peninsula by the enemy ensured the registration of real estate - a house and a land plot in the Simeiz urban settlement of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation. The people’s representative acquired this property in 2013 through a controlled enterprise and trusted persons.

In 2016, in order to protect property on the temporarily occupied peninsula, the accused organized the conclusion of a security contract with an illegal paramilitary formation of the occupation authorities in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea – “Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Security” of the Russian Guard in the Republic of Crimea”.

They subsequently organized the transfer and transfer of more than 648.7 thousand Russian rubles to the Russian National Guard participating in the war against Ukraine for the protection of property.

In addition, the Ukrainian people’s deputy was recruited by the Russian FSB and carried out the tasks of one of the former deputy secretaries of the National Security and Defence Council, who left for Moscow in 2014.

The accused systematically publicly disseminated the narrative of the aggressor state in his speeches and interviews, conducting subversive activities against Ukraine. He supported ideas about the Russian direction of further development of Ukraine.

The people’s deputy, knowing about the occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine by the aggressor state, continued to carry out subversive activities against our state.

The accused are in custody.
