The head of the Cherkasy regional court of appeal, Yuriy Sirenko, purchased a new car during the war, but continues to use a service car with a driver.

In December 2020, the judge bought a new BMW. The car was manufactured in 2022 and costs UAH 3.3 million. The price is one hundred thousand UAH less than the annual salary of the head of the court. On the day of the purchase, he took out a loan of UAH 1.8 million. The judge declined to comment.

According to the resource, the new BMW has not been seen near the court for several days. In the morning, the judge is driven to work by a car belonging to the court. And in the evening, it is taken away.

"The Toyota car is used to ensure the timeliness and efficiency of court hearings. It is intended for transporting judges of the Cherkasy Court of Appeal between court premises. Also, for delivering correspondence with court cases to the post office, transporting court staff on official business," the court noted in its response to our request.

Over the course of two years, 127 thousand hryvnias were spent on servicing this particular car, and another 63 thousand went on fuel. The driver was charged 294 thousand hryvnias in salary over two years.
