Lubinets: The majority of those released were held captive since the first days of the war
On Saturday, September 14, the 57th prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia took place. This time, 103 servicemen were successfully brought home, most of whom had been held captive since the beginning of the full-scale war. In total, 3671 Ukrainians have returned to Ukraine during the exchanges.
This was reported by the Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets on his Telegram channel.
According to him, the majority of the 103 Ukrainians released during this exchange are people who had been held by the Russians since the first days of the war. Among those released are defenders from the 36th Marine Brigade, the National Guard, including the 12th Special Purpose Brigade "Azov," border guards, members of the special unit "Kraken." There are also representatives from the National Police, territorial defence, the State Emergency Service, and various units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Those who have returned need serious rehabilitation, as their health condition has significantly deteriorated during their captivity," the Ombudsman noted.
Lubinets wished the families still waiting for their loved ones to be released that they will receive the same long-awaited news in due time.
"Today, 103 families received the long-awaited news! Families who are waiting for the same news, do not lose hope! We are doing everything possible to bring your loved ones home," the Ombudsman emphasized.
