Execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine appealed to the international community

Sybiha emphasized that Russia’s cruel treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war is "an absolute barbarism, a gross violation of international humanitarian law, the laws, and customs of war." According to him, executions are becoming more frequent. The minister reminded that, according to the UN, 95% of Ukrainian prisoners of war are subjected to torture by Russians, and they are denied basic needs and access to them.

"The international community must take immediate action. Issue ICC warrants for the arrest of Russian torturers. Strengthen sanction pressure. Demand access for international observers and medics to detention sites, facilitate the release of prisoners of war and all illegally detained individuals," Sybiha stressed.
