The illegal construction taking place near the Crimean Bridge may have a logistical or protective nature.

At the same time, Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk believes that this structure, being built by Russian occupiers, is not intended for civilian use.

"As for the illegal construction, we will eventually see what it is. It could be hydraulic structures of both a protective and logistical nature. I doubt they will be open for civilian use. Most likely, they will serve as defensive lines. The question is how long they will stand there, as this is not as capital an endeavor as the Crimean Bridge itself," Pletenchuk said on the air of "Espresso".

He added that the storm season is about to begin, which will show how this structure holds up. According to the spokesperson, the current operational regime of the bridge is very complex—it is closed during any air raid alert. Specifically, yesterday this happened several times, and the day before, the bridge was even covered with smoke to protect it from potential strikes.

"Therefore, they (the Russians) are forced to build a railway by land—the infamous land corridor, for which they initiated this latest adventure by the Russian dictator, which they called an SMO. There is currently no information that this logistical route is operational or that it has been built and opened—none. In any case, it passes closer to the line of combat contact than the bridge," the spokesperson said.

According to his information, the occupiers also face the problem that the Crimean Bridge cannot be heavily loaded. For example, to send trains with fuel or convoys with certain equipment, especially armored vehicles, onto it. The military official recalled that the Russian railway ferries are currently non-operational after the Ukrainian Armed Forces targeted them. Therefore, the occupiers, in Pletenchuk’s opinion, will make every effort to complete the railway, which, according to their plans, should connect Rostov-on-Don (Russia) with Dzhankoi (temporarily occupied Crimea).
