The first results of the official investigation regarding the Khmelnytskyi prosecutors have emerged

To date, it has been established that 61 prosecutors from the Khmelnytskyi region’s prosecutor’s offices have disabilities.

A large-scale internal investigation regarding the acquisition of disabilities by prosecutors was initiated immediately after this information appeared in the media. It concerns not only the Khmelnytskyi prosecutors but all levels of prosecutor offices, including the Office of the Prosecutor General, and is extremely important for the entire system.

The announcement was made by the General Prosecutor Andriy Kostin in the "Weekly Facts" program.

"To date, it has been established that 61 prosecutors from the Khmelnytsky region’s prosecutor’s offices have disabilities. This includes the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor’s Office and district prosecutor’s offices of the Khmelnytskyi region.

80% of them — 50 individuals — acquired their disabilities before the start of the full-scale invasion.

It is very important to determine the circumstances under which they acquired disabilities since the proportion of such employees in the Khmelnytskyi region is very high.

We will inform the public about all the stages and results of this investigation.

I believe that all prosecutors in doubt should voluntarily undergo re-examination. This has not yet been done within the framework of criminal proceedings," said the Prosecutor General.

According to Kostin, he initiated the creation of a working group that will include international experts. They will help comprehensively assess the situation and develop solutions to prevent such abuses in the future.

"I support the initiative of the Ministry of Health regarding the comprehensive reform of the medical-social expertise system. We are ready to join this initiative. It may be necessary to involve the entire government as well as the Parliament. It is very important to ensure fairness, particularly in the establishment of benefits that people receive in connection with disabilities, regardless of where they work or if they work at all. This issue needs to be studied carefully and comprehensively, and a fair solution must be provided for everyone," concluded Andriy Kostin.
