In 2025, Ukraine’s national debt will exceed 100% of GDP for the first time
This forecast is provided by the IMF.
According to this forecast, by the end of 2024, the national debt will amount to 95.6% of GDP.
However, from the following year, this figure will exceed 100% of GDP: 106.6% in 2025, 107.6% in 2026, and 102.6% in 2027.
«Despite the resilience of the economy (of Ukraine – ed.), challenges are increasing due to the expected winter electricity shortage related to large-scale damage to energy capacities, the situation in the labor market, and the ongoing war», – noted the IMF.
It is considered that the risks are very high due to the war, the vulnerable state of the energy sector, and the expectation of financial support from international partners.
