Ukrainian sky defenders shot down 26 UAVs, while 20 more were lost location-wise

The aggressor country Russia launched an attack on Ukraine on the night of October 29 using an Iskander-M missile and 48 attack drones. The air defence forces shot down 26 UAVs, while the other two dozen fell due to electronic warfare measures.

Air defence systems were active in eight regions. The neutralization of this attack, which lasted from 22:00 on Monday, October 28, was reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Using a ballistic Iskander-M missile, the invaders struck Kryvyi Rih from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea. In addition, they launched 48 Shahed and unidentified drones from the Russian cities of Orel and Kursk. The enemy’s aviation continuously launches guided aerial bombs on the frontline areas in different directions.

This latest air attack was countered by anti-aircraft missile forces, aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defence Forces of Ukraine.

Air defence systems were active in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Poltava regions.

As of 09:00 on Tuesday, the destruction of 26 enemy drones was confirmed. Additionally, 20 drones were lost due to location disturbance, and one returned to Russia. Information is being clarified and updated.

In the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, it was announced that this night air defence forces shot down a hostile Shahed-type UAV in the region: the location of the debris is being established, and there were no reports of casualties or damage.

In Kyiv, debris from downed targets caused a fire in the Solomyanskyi district, injuring six people. In the Svyatoshynskyi district, windows were shattered in an administrative building.

In one of the districts of Kyiv region, debris from downed targets ignited grass cover, while in another, road surface near a settlement was damaged.

Over Cherkasy region, five Shaheds were neutralized: in one case, the fall of debris caused a fire in dry vegetation. Additionally, seven enemy drones were shot down in Sumy region.
