In Ukraine, over 1700 children are considered missing due to the war, – Ministry of Internal Affairs

A unique registry of persons missing under special circumstances contains information about over 52,000 Ukrainians – including more than 1,700 children.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Leonid Tymchenko, during a broadcast of the United TV Marathon here.

"At this moment, more than 52,000 persons are registered in the Ministry of Internal Affairs registry, where records of persons missing under special circumstances are kept.

[…] Over 1,700 children are currently listed in the registry of persons missing under special circumstances," noted Leonid Tymchenko.

Ukrainians whose relatives may have gone missing due to military actions can seek help from specialized search centers created based on the main departments of the National Police – in most regional centers.

"In each region, there is such a center where investigators and criminal investigators work. They daily contact representatives of the commissioner for persons missing under special circumstances, and if necessary – with investigation units of the Security Service," says the deputy minister.

According to Leonid Tymchenko, Ukrainians searching for their relatives can contact the nearest main department of the National Police.
