The chief editor of the "Pryamyi" TV channel attempted to leave Ukraine with forged documents in February 2024, but was detained by border guards, reports Volyn news with reference to the decision of the Lyubomlskyi district court.

The publication does not specify the journalist’s full name - Viktor M. Media outlets suggest that this might be Viktor Medvid, who has held the position of chief editor of the "Pryamyi" TV channel since 2019, although he himself has not confirmed this.

According to the court’s ruling, the journalist obtained forged documents — a military ID and a certificate from the military medical commission stating that he suffers from severe viral hepatitis — with the help of an unknown person.

On the morning of February 19, 2024, he attempted to cross the border into Poland with these documents, but border guards detected irregularities in them.

In court, the chief editor admitted his guilt and complied with the requirement to pay a fine of 68,000 hryvnias.

The "Pryamyi" TV channel is owned by former president Petro Poroshenko.
