Zelenskyy: Russia struck energy facilities with cluster munitions

The President has called on partners to provide more air defence systems.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the powerful attack carried out by Russia today.

"Since early morning, reports have already come in from the Commander of the Air Force, the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Energy about the consequences of the Russian strike. The target of the attack was our energy sector. A total of about 100 strike drones and more than 90 missiles of various types were recorded. In several regions, strikes with ’calibers’ using cluster munitions were recorded against civilian infrastructure. These cluster elements complicate the work of our rescuers and energy workers in eliminating the consequences of the strike, and this is an extremely insidious escalation of Russian terrorist tactics," he wrote.

According to him, the necessary forces are involved in all regions where it is needed.

"Our energy workers and all services are working at maximum capacity to restore normal life and help people. Resilience Points are deployed. Every such attack confirms that air defense systems are extremely necessary now in Ukraine, where they save lives, and should not be stored in bases. This is especially important during the winter period when it is necessary to protect our infrastructure from targeted Russian strikes," he added.
