Animal volunteers rescue horses 300 metres from the front line in Kharkiv region
Volunteers rescued three horses and seven dogs near the front line.
This was reported by the NGO "Animal Rescue Kharkiv".
According to animal rights activists, three abandoned horses and seven dogs were found near the positions by the soldier Yevhen. The animals remained near the destroyed farm.
"It seems there was a direct hit on this farm. A lot of animals were killed. The survivors had no food at all," Yevhen said.
A team of five animal volunteers, together with soldier Yevhen and the director of the Derhachi Youth Equestrian Sports School, went to the area to rescue the animals.
The rescuers described the expedition as a triple-level complexity task: capturing seven scared dogs and rescuing three unbroken horses 300 meters from the front line.
The rescue methods were decided on-site, based on the animals’ behavior. Especially frightened dogs had to be caught with the help of a sedative.
On the first day, all seven dogs and one horse were rescued.
On the second day, the second part of the rescue operation took place: rescuing two horses, which lasted four hours. They were driven into the remaining structure of the farm, where they could be caught.
Currently, the horses and dogs are recovering on the premises of the Derhachi Youth Equestrian Sports School.
