Yet another 10-12 Patriots will make the war pointless for Putin, - Zelenskyy

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, emphasized that the country needs an additional 10-12 Patriot air defence systems for the full protection of its airspace.

He made these remarks during a meeting with the head of the Socialist and Democrats Group of the European Parliament, Iratxe García Pérez, in Kyiv.

It seemed that the invulnerability against Russian aggression primarily depends on the incomplete protection of Ukrainians. However, the president noted that to ensure citizens’ safety, the main priority should be the "air defense systems."

"Everyone knows that the additional acquisition of 10-12 Patriot systems for Ukraine guarantees us safe existence and nullifies Putin’s military plans," Zelenskyy stated.

"If our sky is securely protected, no guided bombs or ballistic missiles will be able to strike civilian targets in Ukraine – be it hospitals, schools, or universities," he added.

The President proposed using Russian assets to finance the supply of Patriots to Ukraine.

"Sometimes I really don’t understand: one such system costs one and a half billion. Please, use Russian assets for this. It will cost 30 billion, but it will allow us to completely secure our sky. That’s all," Zelenskyy explained.
