A couple from Kherson has been charged with collaborating with the enemy

The investigation established that the 46-year-old man and his 33-year-old wife voluntarily participated in the pseudo-referendum organized by the invaders regarding the "joining" of the Kherson region to the Russian Federation during the city’s occupation.

The police found out that in September 2022, the woman was appointed as the "representative of the DEC №301" – a member of the "commission" operating in the Dnipro district of Kherson, and her husband became the deputy head of the commission.

“The individuals actively participated in the organization and conduct of the illegal referendum in Antonivka. The man directly managed the "voting" process and gave instructions to other members of the "commission." His wife distributed ballots, verified voters against the available lists, and campaigned for citizens to vote for the secession of the Kherson region from Ukraine and joining Russia,” the police inform.

The couple has been charged in absentia with committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 5 of Article 111-1 "Collaborative Activity" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of 10 to 15 years and with or without confiscation of property.
