SBGS: Since the beginning of the year, 55,000 Ukrainians have been denied crossing the border

Throughout the 11 months of 2024, almost 55,000 Ukrainians were denied crossing the border. In total, 32.3 million people crossed the border.

This was reported at a briefing by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko.

"We can now analyze the 11 months of this year. In total, 32.3 million people crossed the border in both directions, entering and exiting. Compared to the same period in 2023, this is even a slight decrease. In 11 months of 2023, 32.8 million people crossed the border, actually half a million more," he noted.

According to the SBGS spokesperson, Ukrainian citizens crossed the border 28 million times.

"If we consider the percentage ratio, it is 50/50, with almost 14 million people crossing the border both exiting Ukraine and entering, so there is no significant advantage, whether it’s exiting Ukraine or entering," Demchenko noted.

According to him, the largest passenger flow is at the border with Poland — 50% of the total number of people.

"Speaking about the 11 months, with a total border crossing of 32.3 million people, almost 55,000 Ukrainians were refused border crossing. Of course, the main category among those refused are men – Ukrainian citizens aged 16 to 60, as they did not meet the conditions for crossing the border," Demchenko said.

The statistics of refusals also include people who forgot their documents and those who were prohibited from crossing the border by decision of authorized state bodies.
