The occupiers will not advance in the Pokrovsk direction, - Bratchuk
Ukrainian defence forces manage to slow down the enemy’s advance, including counterattacks.
This was stated on December 20 by the representative of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army "South," Serhiy Bratchuk, on the air of FREEДОМ.
He emphasized the importance of holding key positions in the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk areas.
"In Kurakhove, it is clear that this is not only an attempt to capture the settlement itself but also to continue the enemy’s advance along one of the flank lines towards Pokrovsk. As long as Kurakhove is held, the enemy will not make progress in the direction of Pokrovsk. On the other hand, the enemy entered Shevchenko - these are also flank strikes that they are trying to use for tactical advancement. But strategically, this place is unlikely to bring the enemy anything significant today," Bratchuk noted.
Ukrainian military not only hold these positions but also conduct counterattacks in certain areas, he reported.
"Currently, there are certain problems in the Pishchane area. The enemy has occupied this position and has tactical successes. However, our counterattacks allow us to stabilize the situation. Not completely yet - full stabilization on the front is still far, but for a while, the enemy’s advance is halted," he noted.
Bratchuk also recalled the loud statements by Russians regarding the capture of Pokrovsk.
"In reality, the Russians were supposed to capture Pokrovsk back on October 1. The battles continue today. The battles for Pokrovsk itself will probably begin later, at least as long as the positions I mentioned are held," Serhiy Bratchuk concluded.
