The son of MP Lopushanskyi received a suspicion of embezzling the budget of a village council in the Lviv region

The son of the current Member of the Ukrainian Parliament is suspected of embezzling funds from the Verkhnнosynyovydnenska settlement council of the Skole District in Lviv region.

This was reported by the press center of the State Bureau of Investigation.

"Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation documented a scheme to embezzle budget funds from the Verkhnosynyovydnenska settlement council of the Skole District in Lviv region. The son of the current Member of the Ukrainian Parliament is involved in the scheme," the message states.

The investigation established that from September to December 2019, the MP’s son, along with officials of the settlement council and representatives of commercial structures under his control, developed an illegal mechanism to misappropriate the community’s budget funds.

"The scheme was implemented during the purchase and delivery of equipment with components within the project ’Reconstruction of street lighting using innovative energy-efficient measures of renewable energy sources’," the State Bureau of Investigation notes.

As a result of the illegal activity, the state suffered damage amounting to nearly one million hryvnias.

Searches were conducted at the residence of the suspect and his father.

The individual has been notified of suspicion of embezzlement, waste of property, or misappropriation by abusing official position (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment.

Media reports indicate that the son in question is of the MP from the "European Solidarity" faction, Andriy Lopushanskyi – Andriy.
