Promises by the West to accept Ukraine into NATO were "a lie," - Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy stated that the West’s promises about Ukraine’s future accession to NATO were "lies".

In his opinion, the USA and Germany maintained contacts with Russia throughout the entire war.

"From some countries, I think it was initially an opaque policy, they did not support our accession to NATO. These were just empty words about how, yes, Ukraine will be in NATO. This was unfair to Ukraine and the Ukrainians. And it was also unfair on the part of our leaders. When some of them spoke, promised that we would be in NATO, it was also dishonest. I believe that the positions of Germany and the USA were weak. Because they engaged in dialogue with Russia. And I believe that they lost in this dialogue. They lost because they always appealed to some agreements with Russia that once existed," Zelenskyy said.
