The Armed Forces of Ukraine explained whether they would be able to hold Pokrovsk
Ukrainian forces are able to hold Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region and repel Russian troops, but reserves are needed for this.
This was stated by military expert, Major in reserve of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksiy Hetman.
According to the expert, without additional forces, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to hold Pokrovsk: "Sometimes, as sad and brutal as it may seem, it is necessary to conduct combat operations to maximize the enemy’s exhaustion, and then introduce reserves. Usually, reserves are not deployed at the beginning of battles. If the enemy is advancing, the reserve is used at the last moment when the enemy is exhausted and convinced that they have achieved a certain goal. Then a counterattack is launched."
Hetman noted that the shortage of forces on this section of the front may be due to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ desire to exhaust the enemy as much as possible for a subsequent powerful counterattack: "From a military point of view, this is reasonable, but from a human perspective, it seems somewhat brutal. However, war is a harsh reality".
