Fico accused Ukraine of involvement in a "massive cyberattack"
The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, stated that there was a "massive cyberattack" on the country’s national insurance company, allegedly involving Ukraine. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected these accusations.
This was reported by Dennik N and the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Fico’s accusations
At an urgent press conference on January 24, Fico announced a cyberattack that began at noon and aimed to attempt to obtain "confidential information about diagnoses."
"If successful, this will make it impossible to provide medical care in Slovakia. At this moment, we are successfully repelling the attack, but we cannot fully realize what will happen in the coming minutes and hours," he said.
The Slovak Prime Minister called the cyberattack "part of a textbook example of how rebellious governments, which have a different view on certain things, are liquidated," and stated that Ukraine is responsible for this attack.
According to Fico, "this activity is carried out by opposition leaders, non-governmental organizations, organized foreign states, foreign instructors, and media."
Response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically rejected the possibility of Ukraine’s involvement in the cyberattack against the medical insurance company in Slovakia.
"Once again, we urge the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, to stop seeking imaginary enemies in Ukraine, a friend to Slovakia and its people," the ministry emphasized.
