The Kursk operation may become a key component of the negotiation process - Zelenskyy
President Zelenskyy predicts that the Kursk operation will become an important part of the negotiation process.
He stated this following a meeting with the UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
"Tomorrow it will be exactly six months since the start of the operation in the Kursk direction. A very important operation. You will see, when we reach the diplomatic resolution to end the war, what conditions the Russians will have for Ukraine regarding the Kursk direction. It was a very important step. I don’t like to throw around words like ’historic.’ The entire life of Ukraine and the struggle is probably a historic path, and that is why I will not use this word regarding this operation. But it was certainly very important. And I am grateful to all the soldiers who defend our territory, thanks to the Kursk operation as well," Zelenskyy said.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces "are steadily maintaining the situation there and will continue to hold it."
"The Russians have very heavy losses there. They are severely understating them. Their Korean troops (military from North Korea - ed.) are scattering, we see this," stated the President.
He also noted that in the Kursk region, long-range weapons managed to strike several important targets.
"We struck several very important military command points. And these are very serious steps. They are important. And I think that they will not be able to push us out of this territory any time soon, and this, like a magnet, holds 60,000 of their soldiers in this direction today," said the head of the Ukrainian state.
The President also emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region made it possible to stabilize the situation in the Kharkiv region.
