RF wants to recruit 210,000 soldiers into the unmanned systems forces, - Syrskyi

"Held a meeting on the development of unmanned systems and electronic warfare based on the results of the first month of 2025. This is one of our constant priorities, without which victory in a modern technological war is impossible. It is a rapidly developing direction."

This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

"The front line is defined by infantry positions. However, increasing and skillful use of drones allows us to keep the enemy at a distance from our positions and destroy them remotely. This, in turn, preserves the lives and health of the infantry.

He emphasized the need to improve the interaction of unmanned systems units with general military units.

He listened to reports on the results of the activities of unmanned systems brigades and battalions.

Thus, in January, 66% of Russian equipment was put out of action specifically as a result of the operation of different types of strike UAVs. Overall, our drones hit or destroyed 7% more targets in the reporting month than in December.

The largest share of hits (49%) comes from FPV drones. The leaders in this direction are the unmanned systems units of the 46th Airmobile Brigade, 3rd Assault Brigade, and 80th Air Assault Brigade.

He decided to commend the commanders of the unmanned systems units that demonstrate the best results in destroying the enemy.

Listened to reports on the state of capability acquisition of unmanned systems units, including the reformation of regiments into brigades, increasing the drone component within mechanized brigades, as well as new models of electronic warfare complexes and their compatibility with UAVs.

The development of the Concept for the application of a separate brigade of unmanned systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is in the final stage, as well as some other organizational aspects regarding the development of unmanned systems forces.

He specifically drew attention to the report from J2 (our intelligence) on the creation by the enemy of a new type of troops - the unmanned systems forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. We are aware of the enemy’s intentions and specific plans, which envision up to 210,000 personnel of the unmanned systems forces in 277 military units and subdivisions by 2030.

But in this war, the initiative in the unmanned systems direction belongs to us. The enemy acknowledges the high effectiveness of the combat use of the unmanned systems units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, does not stop, adopts our advanced experience, and expands its work. We have corresponding tasks ahead of us, including asymmetric ones. We will develop, improve, and scale successes in the unmanned systems direction. However, we will act not only in numbers but also in skills," concludes Syrskyi.
