British Intelligence: Russian advance in eastern Ukraine has slowed
According to British intelligence, the advance of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory slowed down in January. The occupiers captured about 320 square kilometers.
This was stated by British intelligence on Friday, February 7.
"Russia captured the stronghold of Velyka Novosilka, but the advance along most of the front line was relatively insignificant," the report says.
British intelligence notes that during 2024, the Russian advance accelerated and by November 2024, over 700 square kilometers had been captured. It was noted that this was one of the fastest paces of advancement since the initial stages of the conflict.
The British intelligence also reported that in Russia’s Kursk region, minor successes were achieved in January 2025, and North Korean troops withdrew from the front line.
"North Korean units involved in offensive combat in the Kursk region temporarily withdrew from forward positions, likely for rest and re-equipping before redeployment. This is almost certainly primarily due to the heavy losses they suffered during attacks on positions held by Ukraine," the post notes.
