Ukraine will increase LNG purchases from the United States after strikes on gas infrastructure
Ukraine plans to significantly increase imports of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) after attacks on its gas infrastructure, reports Reuters.
In 2025, the country may significantly increase the purchase of LNG through terminals in Germany, Greece, Lithuania, and Poland.
The head of the Ukrainian GTS, Dmytro Lyppa, noted that from April to October 2025, Ukraine plans to import at least 4 billion cubic meters of gas, and the total cost of imports will exceed 1 billion dollars. According to him, up to half of this volume will be LNG delivered through European terminals, rather than pipeline gas.
Lyppa also emphasized that politically it is important for Ukraine that as much American LNG as possible is supplied through Poland and gradually delivered to Ukraine.
