Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow agrees with the proposals to cease hostilities, but considers it necessary that the truce leads to the establishment of a lasting peace and the elimination of the root causes of the conflict.

"We agree with the proposals to stop the hostilities, but we proceed from the fact that this cessation should lead to a long-term peace and the elimination of the root causes of the crisis," noted the Russian leader.
